
What is a Video Producer?
The Video Producer takes full responsibility for the success of the video project -- from start to finish.
The Producer responsibility starts with interpreting the client’s vision for the project. He or she function as the front-line liaison between the production team and the client.
The Producer is also responsible for assembling the production team necessary to complete the project from start-to-finish, on-time and on-budget.
The Producer usually stays involved throughout the project lifecycle: pre-production, production and post-production. In other words from concept through delivery -- organizing logistics, deadlines, and communicating with the team each step of the way.
This job requires in-depth knowledge of various aspects of video production and extensive hands-on experience to ensure the entire project stays "on track".
Who should play the Role of Video Producer?
For most video projects, an experienced Video Producer is a necessity – because you need someone who understands all aspects of video production to make sure your video project is successful delivered on time and on budget, and delivers the desired results.
With simple projects, such as live-streaming a small event, or capturing a product in motion for your video archives, a good Videographer can play the role, or can share the role with the client's Marketing Manager. But for anything more complex, involving a bigger team, a dedicated Video Producer is essential.
